Collaborations with NGO's

Collaborations with and International NGO's

Usha Kiran Eye Hospital (UKEH) collaborates with both national and international NGOs to strengthen and expand its reach, especially in regions with limited access to eye care. These partnerships are essential for UKEH to address preventable blindness and provide specialized treatments, such as pediatric surgeries and advanced eye care, to underprivileged communities across multiple countries.

Key Collaborations:

  • Avoidable Blindness Programs: Collaborations with NGOs like Rotary Avoidable Blindness Foundation have been crucial in funding surgeries and corrective procedures for both children and adults who are at risk of blindness. These programs focus on reducing blindness rates by providing access to high-quality, affordable eye care, particularly in underserved regions.
  • Surgical and Equipment Support:NGO partnerships have provided essential funding for surgical procedures, high-tech medical equipment, and training programs, allowing UKEH to perform specialized treatments for complex cases. The hospital has received support from NGOs across India, as well as from organizations in Bangladesh, Nepal, Kenya, The Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, and Zambia, helping to bridge gaps in healthcare resources and reach patients in need.
  • Global Awareness and Advocacy Initiatives: Working alongside international NGOs, UKEH participates in advocacy initiatives aimed at raising awareness of avoidable blindness. This includes promoting eye health maintenance, encouraging regular check-ups, and educating communities about the risks and preventable causes of blindness.

Impact:
Through its partnerships with both national and international NGOs, UKEH has been able to deliver significant community benefits, including:

  • Over 17,000 free adult surgeries and 400 free pediatric surgeries
  • Nearly 12,000 subsidized surgeries and procedures
  • Eye care services in various underdeveloped regions within India and abroad, including Bangladesh, Nepal, Kenya, The Gambia, Zambia, Ghana, and Nigeria.

These collaborations allow UKEH to extend its mission internationally, bringing life-changing eye care to some of the world’s most underserved populations. The combined efforts have ensured that thousands of individuals receive necessary eye care, preventing blindness and restoring vision, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families.
